We arrived in STT on Saturday (6/18) after a two hour delay in San Juan. They couldn't find a crew to fly the plane to STT. We went directly to Cuzzins for dinner and it was great, the painkiller and conch fritters hit the spot. After sleeping in and recovering from our 16 hour ordeal to get here We spent an afternoon at Magen's bay on Sunday.

On Monday we went on a catamaran out of Coki that took us around ST John stopping at Lavonga, Cinnamon Bay, and Hawknest. This was great snorkeling and of course had lunch and an open bar. We all got plenty of sun and look similar to boiled lobster. Tried out the Hook, Line, and Sinker retsaurant in STT MOnday night and it was OK.

Tuesday we did the customary tourist shopping and got a pretty good deal on a digital camera in downtown Charlotte Amalie. It was difficult to find a parking spot for two cars, but we finally accomplished it.

Today (Wed) We are taking the car ferry over to ST John and spend the day checking it out.

Over all the best part of the trip is just relaxing with our friends. Having a cup of coffee in the morning sitting on the deck overlooking the harbor, lounging in the pool with a cold Blackbeards Ale, and sitting in the cool evening breezes sipping on various rum drinks. I hesitate to use a quote from a movie but "we're not in Kansas anymore Toto".

We are lucky to have a caretaker from our villa that is making reservations for us and is also accompanying us on our tip to ST John. The villa said that his services are in the villa price. I was wondering is it customary to tip the caretaker and what would be a going rate? The villa cost is $4,000 per week and we have a group of 5 couples.

Except for a mean sunburn, we are all having a great time. After a couple of rum and cokes the sunburn isn't too bad.

Hello Ruprek,

Thanks for the update. Sounds like you are having a great time. I think if the caretaker at the villa is being a personal tour guide, taking you around for the whole day on St. John etc. and doing a good job at it then a tip would be appropriate.

Use sun block :). Wear a t-shirt while snorkeling to protect your back.

Which villa are you staying at and how is it?

Yeah, having the caretaker follow you around is above and beyond. Maybe $20/day and then another S10 hr for when they follow you around?
