We are looking at a villa on St John in late July. As it is hurricane season and we have actually had a trip to Jamaica postponed because of a hurricane, we will need trip insurance, preferably one that you can use for ANY cancellation reason. Thoughts or advice on companies? Does it work differently being a villa and separate air VS. a resort/air package deal? Thanks....love reading this board! Kim
I've just started researching this. Go to : insuremytrip.com As of yet I haven't made a decision. It seems a phone call to an on-line rep. would be the quickest way to filter thru all the info.
We are also going to STT, STJ & Tortola for 2 weeks in mid-July. I have been pondering this insurance idea for months. I found that www.csatravelprotection.com offers the best quote. Travel insurance covers by $ amount you wish to cover for your trip, airfare and villa rental combined. I enjoy and learn a lot on this board. Thank you all.
Some of the options require that you book the insurance within 15 days of making the first reservation for the trip. I believe it is for medical pre-existing conditions. Say - god forbid - for example, that your elderly grandmother has alzheimers. If you need to leave your trip on the second day to attend her funeral, that early return is covered if you take the policy in the first 15 days. Do call the insuremytrip folks. they will explain everything you never even thought of and will send you several quotes from diff. companies.
