Which company offers the best trip insurance?

Me and my husband will be traveling in September and I must admit that the "H" word does concern me.

Thank you!!

What is the H word?

Anyway....we were down in STT in June and we both had trip insurance from csa. I have to say that they did a great job. Especially when we had terrible phone service with Verizon. Somebody else offered to lend us their phone and everything turned out great.

We did a 3 way phone call with US Air and we were able to get on the first flight out of STT. My only problem was with US Air. Just to get home cost us over 650.00, when we already had tickets. They charged us 150.00 each for changing the ticket and then we had to pay for 1 flight home. That has been submitted to csa.

Their employees were very professional. I will call them today to see how everything is going.

Good luck....if you have somebody home that is sick or you have issues, I would definetly take out the insurance.

Jen,
We are going the first week of Sept and I haven't given much thought to insurance. Now that I read this info, I think I will be getting some too. Thanks for the nudge in the right direction! 🙂

Trip/Travel Insurance provides coverage for many of those unforeseen circumstances that may force the cancellation of your travel plans or interrupt your covered trip. You may recover nonrefundable, unused payments and deposits when a trip is cancelled or interrupted for a variety of reasons. Benefits are also provided for travel delays, baggage delays, emergency medical treatment, and medical evacuation while you’re away from home.
Most travel insurance policies will cover a trip disrupted because of a hurricane (when you are forced to arrive late or leave early for your trip), but you'll be reimbursed only for the affected days until the airport or resort reopens. You will usually be reimbursed for the days you are forced to stay at a resort during a hurricane, but be sure to read the fine print on your policy to make sure you are actually covered. And remember that you'll usually only be covered if you buy your insurance at the same time you book the trip or before any kind of hurricane watch or warning is issued; otherwise, the hurricane might be deemed a pre-existing condition, which means no compensation for you. But if the airlines are operating and allowing passengers to fly to the destination, you'll usually be expected to leave for your vacation, even if a hurricane threatens.
Also, most insurers won't pay as long as the airline is flying, even if the resort you booked and paid for is totally destroyed by the storm. In a case like this, it's usually better to take advantage of the airline's more flexible change policy and rebook your trip for a different time and a different resort.
Always call your specific insurance carrier and ask direct questions on how their particular policy covers hurricane and weather related events that may affect your travel. (Fodors.com)
