We are planning a trip during prime hurricane season and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions regarding trip insurance? Best companies?

We only need it to cover hurricanes and weather related incidents (but I doubt you can purchase it that specific).

Does anyone have knowledge of how it works in making a claim? I need it to be very liberal on the claims side. For instance, if STJ takes a big hit shortly before our arrival, but is technically open for our trip time I don't want to be there during all the clean up. Also, what happens if it looks like a decent possibility of a hit during our week, but forecast is 4 or 5 days out? Anything could happen during that time.

Any thoughts, suggestions, or experiences would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

We purchased our trip insurance through Travelguard International. Our policy covers hurricanes but I did not ask them all the specific questions you are concerned with. I did talk to their sales representative who was very polite and knowledgable regarding my questions about coverages. They even will provide coverage if you "change your mind". Here is the link and phone number for Travelguard. 1-800-826-4919 (U.S.) Toll Free
