Does anyone bring their own gear with them as opposed to renting? wondering about the feasibility of renting just the fins as opposed to taking mine on the plane.

We take our gear with us everytime because we usually go down for two weeks when we go. With a family of four, it will add up for that length of time. However, renting just the fins is doable and a good alternative. Best of luck!

Leave a few clothes home that you won't wear while you are here, and bring your snorkeling gear......all of it.

I always bring my mine. It's the only way to go.

We always take our snorkeling gear with us. I usually pack an extra duffle bag - holds our gear and any other odds and ends that we may want to bring.

You've already paid for it and now you're going to pay for someone else's?
Don is right, unless you're only packing a pair of shorts and some T shirts, you can afford to leave something home and bring your gear. You won't have to find a place, selecting a set, risk losing anything or have to get back before they close. It really makes sense to bring it if you have it.

Good enough for me, I'll bring it all. Sounded kind of like a hassel to rent fins at each stop or rent them at our first stop and carry them anyways...

Thanks

Another indispensable snorkeling item: Find someplace that sells waterproof belt packs on the island, several of the dive shops have them. You never know when you'll want to stop somewhere along the way at a pretty beach, for either a snorkel or a swim, and the waterproof pack is perfect for you to keep your valuables in the safest place - with you!
