Leaving for St Thomas in a few weeks, should I go crazy and bring everything (food, toys, carseat stroller) for my 10 month old? Does anyone have a sugestion, on maybe renting a car with a carseat.

When I travelled with my little one in March, we brought everything...and it was overkill. There are stores for everything you could need (diapers, food.)

You can rent a car with a car seat. Or you can bring yours along for the plane. I have the sit n stroll stroller/carseat. It is a carseat that has wheels that pop out of the bottom and turns it into a stroller. It was great for the plane and the airports, but we really didn't need it on STT.

Have fun! and don't stress!

we're approaching our second trip with our young un. The first time round she was 11 mo's and this time 21 mo's.

What to bring is up to you.. but here's what i suggest- based on what we needed:

1. bottles and their makings, if you want bring a big bottle of water if your worried bout that kind of stuff

2. a hat! Baby doesn't need sunburn! They sell swiming hats that are great for these type trips.

3. Beach floaty, one toy is plenty, and seperate towel for little one - go ahead - be prepared to leave these behind. it's not worth the sand, struggle, or repacking - this way you have more room for souviners!

4. swim diapers - it's a curtosy thing, but we often went without.

5. no carseat needed. the cabs won't use em - holds up their service time.

6. Stroller or something to tote baby that is ready for dirt roads. as i thought the roads were pretty tough and the beach is a pain. We have a stroller with nice rubber bicycle wheels but not a jogging stroller. i thought it was great.

7. backpack - put diapers, wipes foods, disposabl bibs, disposable highchair cover or plastic to put down on tables, snacks all in one spot.

8. a blanky for at night

9. sunscreen that you can tell when it's on

10. We used AVon Skin so soft for bug repellant - it's easy enough to put on, smells better than bug spray and worked pretty ok for baby's skin

11. DON't OVER pack! especially on day trips. i found most islanders to be accomidating to us when in need.

12. a camera, and a water camera...especially if first time to beach

13. like my SIL said - HAVE FUN!

Don't bother with shoes unless your child is walking.
