Hi. I have booked A vacay package to USVI this August 2010 but it seems that USVI is raining now. How's the weather like in August? I'm afraid the weather will be bad. I can't cancel my trip. Please advise what to do while I'm there when and if there's rain. I hope the weather changes. Thank you.

There is nothing that you can do abut the weather and there is NO way to know what the weather will be.
Plan your trip, make a list of all the things you would like to do, wake up each morning look at the sky and decide what part of the list you want to tackle.

You did not indicate what island you will be staying on, that would be helpful to give you some idea of what to do and see.

Right now on STX it is partly cloudy, with a little breeze blowing. I wouldn't worry.

Think positive - blue skies and sunshine. If that doesn't work how about bar hopping in Red Hook or Cruz Bay?? Iggies?? Shopping downtown?? Hitting Havensight and/or YHG?? Catch up on a good book then go out for dinner and dancing??

Sitting on the porch with a good book, glass of wine and watching the storms roll by. That's a GOOD day by any stretch of the imagination at least in my book.

The weather forecast ALWAYS predicts (unless there's a tropical wave coming through) anywhere from 20-50% rain. Which means 80-50% sun. Pack the high SPF sunscreen and don't worry.

Vicki, I've returned to St. Thomas every August for the past 13 years and will be returning again in 9 days (I'm grinning beyond my ears.) I've never had more than an hour of continuous rain in all those years other than major systems that have passed by. There have only been a couple of them over the years. It's a chance that one takes traveling during the season in which tropical weather events are likely. But more than 90% of all the days that I've travelled in August have been fantastic.

See you soon, STT Res

We're head back to STT once again this August. We have been there numerous times in August and never had extended periods of bad weather. That isn't saying that you are guaranteed great weather but the odds are in your favor.

A rainy day in the Virgin Islands still beats a day at the office!

Hi there,
My fav time of the year there is August, we were married on Megans the 16th and usually are there on that date. We watch the rain on St. John (rains there more) while sitting on the east end. Sometimes it rains in St Thomas at the same time, sometimes not or for a second, or only in town, none the less rain is never something to leave the beach for b/c it's short lived. I've seen it rain and overcast othert times of the year, much more. That said -for the first time in 20 odd years we are staying on St John at the Westin, late. The 20th. But the deal was good and we only booked it today. So rain or not in 3 weeks I'm happy..
We have found mid August on St Thomas to be breezy, kid free and wonderful weather. I hope to enjoy St John this trip, but sure I will miss STT..
Enjoy
LB

Not that you can do anything about the weather but look at the weather east by Africa. Then add 10 -8 days. That COULD be your weather. Then it may not.

Go with the flow.
