Hello.
I was wondering if there are any travel nurses who post on this message board. I am looking to leave in March sometime and would like contact with someone who knows the ropes.
I have a ton of questions!
________________________________________________
What is the best agency to travel with? I am with worldwide travel staffing
Best place to stay?
Do you really make any money?
How is the hospital?

Any help would be appreciated.

nursie: check above right "visit relocaton message board" for a great deal of advice and information about living in the VI, if only for the length of a traveling contract! 🙂

My wife did a travel assignment in St Thomas last summer. I had a wonderful time playing beach bum 😎 and we're looking forward to returning this year for another tour. I'm sure she would be happy to answer any of your questions. Send me a PM on this board for an exchange of e-mail addresses.

Hi there.

I worked in the industry for a while so maybe this info is helpful:

In terms of best company to travel with, some are much better than others in terms of pay, benefits and housing, while others pay fairly although they do not aim to pay at the top tier BUT they have market share, great assignments and well-located housing. American Mobile and Cross Country Travcorp are two of the largest and fit into the second category, but the smaller ones can often get you where you want by marketing you to the local facilities and they tend to take a well-rounded approach to your employment.

Personally, I would call/email Leo Blatz's company ( http://worldwidetravelstaffing.com/ )...I knew Leo as a colleague in another part of an organization several years ago, was always impressed with his knowledge and drive, and I know he has historically had opportuinties in the VIs and may well now.

Best of luck.
Robin

Does your agency find your housing for you or do you have to find your own? What department are you working in? Perhaps we'll see you there this summer.
