Your Travel Guide

Virgin Islands

Shane-O takes you to the Virgin Islands and dives into colonial history, visits a rum factory, surfs the coastline, rides around the island with a motorcycle gang, and takes a cable car to paradise point for the best sunset on the island!

Enjoy!

Anybody watching?

They just discussed nightlife on STT and the recommendation was drum circles on the beach with a bonfire. WTH??!! (lol)

Also, they said SOME of the beaches are public, but others are connected to the resorts. Another WTH??!!! All ,VI beaches are public!

STX's portion is coming up next...and i guess that will be followed by STJ.

Ronnie, they showed Villa Santana.

Blu, daughter and myself watched. Saw Charlotte Amalie, Paradise Point, Duffy's, Magens, Coki. It was really fun to see all those things and just counting down the days till we're back!.

Where's the bonfires?

They didn't do STJ (I don't think - I missed about 4 mins for a phone call I took), which is probably a blessing.

The whole show was weird. How about the host saying that he had been forced to go to the VI by the show, but he had never considered it to be a traveler's destination becuase it ws so touristy. But, he added, this made him see that he could find some adventure there. Kind of like a backhanded comment.

They spent a ton of time on the Christmas boat parade. I thought they might have been better served by showing more of what people can do if they visit outside of that timeframe.

I am disappointed with the show. They even aired a comment from a guy on STX who said STX feels like an island, STT doesn't.

Oh well.

Now they're doing 1.5 hrs on Italy with Anthony Bourdain...and it is more weird than the VI show. They keep showing it being cold and rainy...and the host is pissed about everything and they are showing all of the infighting between the crew and the host. I am learning very little about Italy.

Now, I don't want every show to be warm and delightful, especially if the destination isn't. Samantha Brown is often too delighted about everything.....but Anthony is often the opposite. Do they have a host who is in-between?

Connie, did you see Stumpy and Hull Bay? They were actually recommending Stumpy to get away from the crowds. I think Neltjberg would have been a pretty beach to show....prettier than Stumpy, yet away from the crowds.

And who the heck was behind the message to send the visitors onto the beaches at night, in search of the drum circles and bonfires?????

They also spent a bunch of time showing us that couple getting married underwater. Who cares!!!! Did we need to see all of that? Will that help more than .0000001% of visitors? Then we watched all of the guests try to drink champagne underwater. (shaking head)

I saw it when they first aired it a month or so ago. He stayed at Villa Santana. The car driving down to Stumpy Bay, belongs to Jon, Villa Santana's owner Luisa's son. He also has the drum group, so I guess he befriended Shane-o and showed him STT from a different perspective. He was spotlighted for a short while on the beach. That's his dog as well! The guy from STX, there is no explanation for his statement. The off road Tan Tan tours did look like it could be fun though.

Did they go to Neltjberg? The road looked like Neltjberg, but they were on Stumpy and only talked about it being Stumpy.

I guess the show is influenced by the people with whom they connect on the island.

Hey - I'm sorry they may not have represented our beautiful VI's in the light that we all see them - but maybe our "best kept secret" can stay a little more "kept"!

VI Lover, yes, I can say that if i had never been to the VI, and had watched that show, I wouldn't be moved to visit. So, I guess the secret is safe!

Maybe they should visit this board before they go again.

I want to know which one of you STJ lovers paid them off!!!!

Personally, I was really surprised that STJ wasn't one of the features on the show.

Daughter and myself watched it and it seemed like St. Croix was the feature. Nothing against St. Croix at all.....

I just wish it was more then 1/2 hour long. Maybe we would of seem more.
