I have a question about transportation from Secret Harbour. We will be arriving soon and would like to know if the VIbus passes near Secret Harbour, at least within walking distance, to be able to catch it? And would also like to know if it is feasible to walk to the Red Hook area from Secret Harbour? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

we rented a car twice and once we did a taxi which was around 23 each with bags

no it is not really good to walk to red hook from SH but it is a short taxi ride for 4 dollars...

enjoy

Thanks for the input Ginger. We had thought of renting a car at first, but a friend of mine from work suggested that we not. Doubt that we would spend per day on a taxi, what we would on renting a car. I would rather enjoy the ride and sights and not be stressed by driving. Thanks again. Looking forward to seeing the islands!!!!

Hello Charlotte,

The VItran bus and the $1 ride safaris pass through Red Hook, so you could catch them from there. You could feasiably walk from Secret Harbor to Red Hook during the day. Its a short distance but up hill, then down so the terrain makes it more of a hike. Just stick as close to walking in the grass on the side of the road as possiable; the road is narrow and no sidewalks. Take a taxi in the evenings/nights.

The bus stop at the stop light passed the National Guard station might be a closer walk along the residential road by Secret Harbor - but I don't use that road often so I might be wrong. Also there aren't usually many people waiting at that bus stop so it might be better just to go to Red Hook so you have people to ask where to wait for the bus ect.

Thanks alot for the info Islander. It won't be a problem for us to hike over the hill and I realize that being on the road after dark is NOT a good idea. I hope that there is some social life at Secret Harbour as to not have to venture out after dark or at least not far away. Can't wait to experience the islands. Thanks again for your help.
