Is it recommended to rent a car? I know about drving on the left and its not a problem (we did it in Cayman last year). I'm just wondering if its worth it? I've heard about some type of bus transportation - does it go all over the island? How often does it run?

Thanks....

I would rent a car rather than depend on public transportation.

Vegas:

If you're staying more than a day or two....rent a car! Taxis are very expensive.

Renting a car is much more economical. By the time our family of 4 pays fares for one round trip to a beach, to town, etc, we would have paid for a one day rental...and been able to travel around a bit more.

One thing that we will do, however, is the day that we are going to St. john, we will take a taxi to the ferry and then pick up a rental on St. John. It seems like a hassle to get the car on a ferry, etc.
