*We will be visiting from St Thomas. I was planning on taking a ferry to St John. We will be cruising on Seranade of the sea. While I have been to St John on a few occassions, we usually stayed and had a vehicle. What is the best ferry to take from St Thomas? We are interested in going to Trunk and probably Cinnamon Bay for the day. Do taxi's pick up at the beaches? Is there a way to get about that is better? I am looking so forward to visiting again.

Hello Indigo,

Either ferry is fine; they both go to Cruz Bay. They have different schedules so you might use that as a guide of which to take - which ever works with your plan for the day. The schedule is on this site; under St. John - Getting There; use the drop down menu at the top of this page.

You could rent a car on St. John, otherwise taxis would be best.

There are always taxis at the Cruz Bay ferry dock area and pretty much always at the taxi stand area at both beaches you named.

Another option would be to book one of the morning shore excursions right from your ship, such as the Leylon Sneed (I'm sure that they also offer a land based tour of STJ, just not sure which ones are offered by your particular ship). Once on St. John, just tell the crew that you plan on returning to the ship on your own.
