Doing the cruise thing in Nov. Would you recommend arranging transport from the cruise port to the ferry to STJ beforehand, or just grabbing a cab upon arrival?

And thanks to all who provided advice when the wife and I came for a week this past March. You really made our trip a great one.

Guess it depends on what you want to do.
Cruise lines have package trips to STJ while taking a taxi off the dock (meandering around to drop off passengers at various locations prior to dropping you off to catch an hourly ferry) will cost you time as well as the cost of ferry and taxis on STJ to get to and from your destination while you wait for them to fill their quota of passengers. Do you wish to spend more time at different palces or just getting there and back? Define your itinerary. What do you want to do?

We just want to go to Red Hook. I know about the "fill the cab" thing. That's why I'm asking. I've got some about 10 people with the same itinerary so we have enough to fill a van.

You'll have no problem at all getting a cab when you disembark your ship, no need to reserve beforehand.
