What is the direction of the prevailing winds on St. John. Looks like it is ESE more than northeast.
Asking for Kiteboarding spots, if wind is east south east cinamon bay would not be good. any kiteboarders windsurfers out there?
Thanks
Carl

Sir Francis Drake Passage is some of the best sailing in the world - so here is something I found on the web in regards to your question.

Weather: Tropical and tempered by trade winds. Little variation between summer and winter. Rainfall is low, varying slightly from island to island. Night-time temperatures drop to a comfortable level.

The wind direction throughout the Virgins is dominated by the movements of the Bermuda High. During the winter months of November to January, the prevailing wind is from the Northeast at 15-20 knots. By June, they are out of the Southeast at 10-15 knots. From September to October, the Trade Winds are weakest, and the weather can be less settled.

MOST TIME IN THE SUMMER THE WINDS COME FROM THE SSE. IN THE WINTER THE WINDS SHIFT TO THE E AND THEN TO THE NNE. THE TEMPERATURE DROPS WHEN THIS HAPPENS. ON SAPPHIRE BEACH THE SAND MOVES FROM ONE SIDE (THE NORTH) TO THE SOUTH SIDE.
