I'm wondering if there is a car ferry between Tortola and St.John? I can find passenger ferries, but is there a car ferry offered?
Nope.
Do you have any suggestions? thanks!
If you wish to drive around Tortola you would take the ferry to West End and rent a car for the day. There are alot of rental spots close to West End and they would be more than happy to meet you at the ferry dock...
Take the passenger ferry and rent a car. 😉
A bit more info would be useful. Are you staying on STJ and wanting to go to Tortola for the day? What do you want to do on Tortola?
Who did you rent your car through?
Denzil Cline has an office in St. John and one in the West End of Tortola. You may be able to talk them into doing some kind of swap for the day if it doesn't cause them too much work. Work is bad.
Last May we took a day trip to Tortola. Took the ferry from Red Hook to the West End We had reserved a car with Denzil Cline. Their man picked us at the ferry at the predetermined time and took us to their lot. We had a great time exploring and swimming the rest of the day. The Cline driver returned us to the ferry from their lot. No problems mon.
Is it possible to rent a car in St.John, take it on the car ferry to St.Thomas, and then drop it off at the St.Thomas airport?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙂
I just answered your post in the other thread but to sum it up, it's NEVER possible to rent a car on STJ and take it off island. It's a very steep fine (I think $1000) if you do.
