Hello to all-I have been here on St. Thomas for 3 weeks and I am enjoying every moment! I have been all over the island, visited alot of beaches---staying on Sapphire which is gorgeous in itself to look at each day. I have been to St. John alot---love it! I am wanting to go to Tortola-does anyone know of a decent place to stay for a couple of days---somewhat close to the ferry so I an island hop to Jost Van Dayke as well as Virgin Gorda. I only have two more weeks here, so I want to see as much as I can. Any information would be helpful........thanks! Laura Lea

Sebastian's is a great place to stay, not far from the WE ferry dock. Heritage Inn is high up the side of a mountain, killer view, it's closer to Cane Garden Bay, where you can find many places to stay a few days! Have fun!

I have never stayed on Tortola -- would be interested in renting a villa, but need ideas about the various areas. Can anyone help?

Jolly Roger is very near the West End ferry, Sebastian's is over the hill, not too far from it. I don't know about Road Town. I have heard people say Maria's By The Sea is okay. And if you want something on the east end, near the ferry to Virgin Gorda, De Loose Mongoose.

we stayed at the sugar mill in may and LOVED it! Gorgeous updated room, and the pool is so romantic, its somewhat small, but quaint and round! The beach is small, but nice.

I hope I am remembering the right beach name when I say this, and someone please correct me if I am wrong, as we visited a lot of beaches in the usvi and bvis on our last trip....

Smugglers Cove is the most gorgeous beach on tortolla- amazing! We stayed there ALL day, ate at the lil shack on the beach and drank banana daqs that were sooooo good! It was one of the most romantic days we had on that island, almost like a corona commercial.

ALSO- you might as well also go to virgin gorda and view an even more amazing beach then the other one. Savanah Bay is INSANE- i get chills even thinking about this beach!

We are going to be at sapphire on Aug 15th. I have read a lot of bad reviews about it on different forums so hope it is not what I have been reading. Is it in good shape. I have read the restaurants and bars are not open, is that true ?

I second Heritage Inn, Great people http://www.heritageinnbvi.com/index.shtml

Sapphire has been having some internal problems therefore no restaurant, bar, or Sunday afternoon parties!

wish I would have found this forum before we booked at sapphire. Maybe we will get lucky and have a nice studio. Anyhow will make the best of it regardless of what we find.
