SpiritAir has just cancelled our reservation due to no longer offering one segment of our reservation. We are supposed to leave in 3 weeks.
I found out by accident after I decided to check our seat assignments online and noticed that I couldn't select seats for our flight there. I called their reservation line and after 20 minutes on hold was told the news. I don't know when/if they were ever planning on notifying me.
While on the phone I decided to try to re-book the same trip and was able to do so. I told the reservation person and she said there must be a problem with the system.
I asked to speak to a manager and none were available.
I understand the fine print for all airlines allow them to do this but thought I would warn all of you on this board who have helped me plan this trip. If you've already made a reservation with them you should call immediately to confirm.

Which leg was concelled. I'm flying spirit on 5/8 from Reagan to St. Thomas through Ft. Lauderdale. Thanks for the heads up and I'm keeping my fingers crossed
Our reservation was changed 3 times by Spirit. However it was for slight time changes and change of aircraft type. It didn't impact our trip....except gave me 15 minutes more of sleep.
When they had a change I noticed that you couldn't re-book seats on-line. You had to call.
I find it hard to believe that Spirit would cancel a flight segment to their Hub city (FLL). Didn't they offer you another flight?
Heads-up. AA has discontinued the 1PM departing flight from STT to MIA. (at least on June 23, but likely more dates)
I found out yesterday - my flight time was changed to 8:40AM. This flight was ~$150pp cheaper back when I reserved the 1PM flight, but was willing to spend the extra dollars because I didn't want to attempt to get to STT airport by 7AM.
Now it is canceled, and AA is not offering anything except a space on the 8:40AM flight - and certianly not the $150pp I could have saved originally.
Well - I say 'BS' and I got my 'non-refundable' airfare back. I am now flying Delta for $90pp more, but the flight times afford me an additional 6 hours in STJ (and 6 hours less lay-over time) - well worth it both in time and principle.
The big airlines need to re-examine their business models before they go backrupt (again).
Our reservation was also changed 3 times by only several minutes but I was able to change seating assignments online.
The DFW-FLL segment for the day of the week we are traveling has been eliminated so there is no replacement flight available. They will simply refund the ticket.
