hello all...

after posting my pics up and also browsing back through other peoples snaps, most recently beer hunters brilliant pics and commentary, i just thought it might be nice to have a thread about taking pics on holidays...there seems to be a lot of keen amateurs out there and questions on equipment and cameras used, where to get the best views on the islands etc etc

also lots of folks seem to have albums on photobucket or similar and have traveled far and wide with great pics to show for it....

and how about a caption contest (in the same vein as the KC tshirt slogan 'contest' maybe? lol)

anyhoo, just a thought...anyone interested?

woohoo-we're on a second page.

just a quick vote, must the pics be strictly ones from the VI or any funny pic? i've looked through all my holiday snaps but they're very boring in terms of a caption contest point of view lol

Call your local pub the Iguana Cabana? Okay, how about your favorite funny ones but, you
have to say they were taken somewhere in the USVI for a hoot. And, then we'll caption them. This could get
interesting. And, if your funny ones are actually in the VI's the better.

I'm starting to feel like a traffic cop here.

Promo,
I don't have a working camera, mine fell in the drink.
Besides, I am totally cut and paste and post illiterate--I don't care how
much instruction I get.
I have tons of funny pics but, I have a low frustration level when it comes
to computers. If it ain't simple---I don't do it. Even if it's really simple to some, it crosses
my wires and causes fuse boxes around me to explode.
I have a terrible time with my cellphone. I just know how to answer and hang up. And,
if I have to program something after I plug it in, I'm freaked.
I'm no techno-babe.
My sons make fun of that all the time. They've tried to shame me into learning, but, as you
all know,...I'm shameless.
I know how to change a tire on a car, and run a wood-splitter.

Beer Hunter,
was thinking about your four drinking straws pic, today.

Ha!! That's the one!
Goes to prove there's more than one way to tickle yer tonsils!

Wish I could find the picture a friend took of me trying to learn wind-surfing off of
Tortola. Little did I know my swimming suit bottoms were half way down my
rear. Alas, that may have been the shot that blew a forum fuse for real.

Just thought it would be nice to see some of your island vacation shots. If you want shoot some to me and I'll get them up.

beer you've given us a treasure!!

how about 'still not satisfied, beerhunter wonders if the cocktail come as an IV-drip option'

or

'screw cocktails, BEER ME!'

(i only drank two cocktails in the 4 weeks i was in the VI, they just don't do it for...beer was the only way to go!)

CCD....This is the only non beer drink I had and the only reason I had it was that it was 64 ounces and I had to prove that I could drink it and still be standing. I drank it and didn't even feel a buzz. It was very depressing.

the only reason i had a cocktail at all was because i confessed to an astonished barman that i hadn't had one yet cause they're not really my thing.....he took it as a challenge and mixed me one for free......i drank it of course (would just be rude not to) then promptly ordered a beer.......takes more than a fancy umbrella to break me!! (although had there been a wedge wedge of melon on the side of the glass it may have swayed me....) 😛

Promo,
Thanks for the offer. Right now I'm staying with my brother and all of my belongings are
packed away in storage while I attempt to become famous here in Los Angeles.
By the way, just so you guys know, I never tell anyone where my favorite restaurants, camping
spots, islands, beaches, towns, states, countries, fishing spots, bars, airlines, clothing stores, river rafting spots,,,,well, I could go on and on.
I used to be a big blabber mouth about stuff like that, and, wouldn't ya know,
everyone else started to show up.
I only like to share,......some things publicly. But, I'm glad you guys aren't snobs like me. If you were there certainly wouldn't be a need for this forum.
I hope to be moving to St. John some day, but hey, don't anybody else do it.

You all are hilarious.

The photo I posted on page 1 of this thread was taken in 1968 and is a shot of Peterborg peninsula from Magens Bay. It is now covered in homes. If you stand on MB and look right, that's what it used to look like -- way back in the day!
