We will be in St. John in late May, want to visit Jost one day. We are a goup of 5 people, mid 30s and a 2 year toddler.

If we take ferry to Jost, we would spend all day on Jost. With Foxy's wooden regatta festival, will foxy's be very crowded and a lot of drinking? How about other places on Jost?

I've being reading on the board about charter to Jost. It looks like if we charter, we would be able to visit not only Jost, but also a few more snorkeling spots.

With the 2 year old, should we take ferry and only go to Jost, or should we charter and visit not only Jost?

thanks
CL

first, it's a bar in the virgin islands, so there will of course be alot of drinking, thats a given! Travelling with a child, you may be more comfortable on a private charter. If you aren't comfortable at foxy's, you'll have the option of leaving. There aren't many places to put a 2 year old down for a nap at foxys, unless it's on a towel at the beach. If you take the ferry, you're there until the next ferry leaves, which is late in the afternoon, unless you ferry to tortola and then back to stt or stj. Also, you'll have the option of going over to sogggy dollar or ivans on a private charter(without taking a taxi). Last time I was as soggy dollar it seemed there were more kids than adults. But, definitely go however you decide to get there, I'm sure you'll have a great time! Be sure to try foxy's bbq!
