Hi Guys!
we are electing to rough it! and go to ST. Johns for Camping... After the world's longest flights and confusion in San Juan - once we arive in St. John's at either Cinn. Bay or Maho... (which - which is better for a group of 8ppl? price wise?) Also, since we will have about 8 ppl with us, is there a cheap shuttle service? or something? Ok - so back to my tips referral... What can we not afford to miss in less than 48 hrs of visiting St. John - while camping? Also - I'm cheap - but want to eat at good restaurants... Any suggestions? PS. I'm a frommers finatic - but Beleive there are always good places to go besides just frommers recommended... Any suggestions?
Also- the $4 park admission to go to the underground snorkling.. How infant friendly is this? As in can she float with us? or does she need to be able to swim?
As far as bugs go? Do we need insect repellent? how bad are the bugs? (Camping?)
Another question - do we need to reserve snorkle gear up front? or is that an ok Item to wait on?
Alright- Any Suggestions would be great!
Oh hey- and what's the cheapest hopper to St. Thomas or St. john from San Juan?
Hello Siotha,
No cheap shuttle service... you will need to take a taxi from the airport to the ferry dock and the ferry dock to the campgrounds.
Not to miss on St. John... 🙂 the main attraction there is the National Park. So don't miss the beaches, doing some hiking (Reef Bay is a long but really nice trail), see Annaberg and Cinnamon Bay ruins.
The $4 admission is for Trunk Bay/Annaberg (the admission allows you entrance to both places). I believe they have a family pass of some sort, not sure.
I wouldn't take an infant out to the snorkel area at Trunk Bay, a child that can swim or at least float on their own-yes. The little ones can play on the beach/shoreline.
Yes insect repellent is a good idea.
No you don't need to reserve the gear up front, you can do it on the day you want it. If you plan to snorkel a lot you might do a couple days rental or week rental or buy your own gear.
No flights to St. John, you have to fly to St. Thomas and then take a ferry over to St. John. You can try American Eagle, Cape Air for the San Juan-STT.
