Just returned from spending 10 days in paradise! November 9-19th

A little history- my husband and I were married on the island 7 years ago in November and that is pretty much the reason we choose this time to go. Yes, weJ were brave, Friday the 13th. It’s hit or miss going this time a year, but aside from last years November floods we have been fortunate with good weather.

We stayed at Secret Harbor for the entire stay. (We sometimes venture to other islands for a few days), but choose not to this time. LOVE this place. It has all the amenities of home; it’s quiet, clean and it has a beautiful beach. Snorkeling is great there too.

A car was reserved with Budget at the airport. We did drive the car over to STJ for the day on the car ferry. Had lunch at Skinny’s and visited our favorite beaches for the day. I always encourage people to take a trip to STJ- So different than STT. I think each island has a little something to offer. It just depends on your personal preferences.

Breakfast and lunch we pretty much had in our hotel. (they have a full kitchen-which enables you to prepare some meals). This is where I draw the line….dinner was out every night. Our all time favorite is Room with a View-and again it with held its standards. Food, service and view are always top notch. Romano’s in Smith Bay scrumptious as always. Blue Havana’s at The Morningstar was bit of a disappointment. VERY expensive, although the food was delicious. Portions are very small. I felt bad for my hubby and gave him ½ my chicken because he was still hungry after his meal. The atmosphere is simply magnificent. Would we ever go there again- - - no.
We also tried the East Coast Café, which from a scale from 1 to 10, I would probably rate it a 6.5. Pretty average to me.

Some casual dinning was at Molly Malone’s-great grilled ruebens! Sopchoppys right up stairs for some mouth watering pizza. We also had take out at Burrito Bay-we always love their sandwiches, but we were very disappointed this year. I ordered a plain egg burrito (wanted egg and sausage, but no sausage). My husband had a beef quesadilla. The food was skimpy and paid 18 dollars for those two things. We also tried Nipas Latitude 18, both my husband and I thought the meal was great. He said it was one of the best steaks he ever had! They also had some decent entertainment that evening.

Tip on getting gas: always check you change. Every time we purchase gas we are always given the incorrect change. They act like we only gave them a $10 when indeed it was a $20. This time it was at the Esso which is on the same street Bolongo Bay is on. My husband said at least they are consistent.

I wish I was able to share some pictures, but I do not have a digital camera. (It’s only my Christmas list though). We do have the Cannon EOS which takes awesome pictures. Maybe I’ll be able to share some on next years trip :O)

Great report! Also glad to hear someone else sing the praises of Sopchoppy's - - we LOVE that place. Nice view of the harbor, casual environment, GREAT pizza, inexpensive drinks/food. I am craving it so bad right now. It's better than anything we have here in STL, plus location, location, location!

I can't hang with Molly Malone's any more - - last time saw two mice scurrying around the tables.
