Has anyone tried to buy or sell a timeshare for STJ using a brokerage other than the Westin? What kind of fees and or hassle was it if so? Also- would any of you have an interest in renting/buying week 49 this year for a studio room at the Westin?
This is not junk mail- I am currently unemployed and need to get rid of this. If this is not the right venue for this then let me know. I thought this would be a good place to find out if I am getting a bad deal from a brokerage or not. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Russ.
Hey KCKid
Just to let you know the current listing for week 49, studio at The Westin is listed for $19,000 and it has been listed for 10 months and there is a week 50, studio, that is listed for $17,900 that has also been listed for 10 months, and the total timeshares available on STJ is 127 (not all at The Westin)
If you need any more information please feel free to PM me and I would be happy to help.

KC Kid,
A good place to ask a question like yours can be found at the Timeshare Users Group

Pia-and everybody- thanks for the help. Pia- I think I've discussed this matter with your "contact" before. I was hoping to save a little more money on this sale but from the looks of things all of the other "Timeshare" brokerages are pretty much a rip off. I might give your friend a call soon. Thanks again!!
Hey KCKid
Couldn't remember if we had "spoke" before (it had been some time ago - right? )
Anyway, just give us a call if we can be of help.
Pia
I checked for the last two years and did not notice a difference in pricing from October thru December. Of course I flew fro KC to Atlanta and straight to STT. Biggest problem was using Travelocity one year and they kept changing the dang flights around.
Having been in the timesharae industry here for over 7 years, and opening a timeshare re-sale business and starting a completely new timeshare business, separately, I can say, with all candor, that the best way to sell your unit is to call Tommy Tubbs (www.timsharestogo.com). He doesn't take a commission until after it's sold, unlike places like Timeshares Only that charge you a listing fee, then do nothing with your listing, so it's in his best interst to sell it as fast as he can. However, your use of the retail figures leads me to believe that you are expecting to receive somewhwere in that neighborhood for it? I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the re-sale market is so flooded with re-sales, that, typically, timeshare sell for around 20-30% of their orignal sale price. Are you prepared to take that loss? You might want to just rent out the unit by offering it to you local travel agent for a commission. PM me if there is anything I can do to help.
Thanks Marty- Yes I was hoping to get a decent price for it. I really would like to keep it also. We are both unemployed at the moment (sort of- we are both in real estate and sell new homes, or at least used to sell new homes). We have only owned the week for a year now but can't justify coming down this year. Good idea to call the local travel agent and try to get something for it at least. Thanks again for all the help.
