2 questions.....
I thought I read that you aren't allowed to take Thrifty's cars over to STJ on the car ferry?
Also, anybody have an opinion on whether it would be better to rent a van or 2 small cars? I'm thinking 1 van + 6/7 people would be tough climbing some of those hills??
Yes I believe that you can't take thriftys cars over to st. john. I always rent from budget and have had no problems. I have never rented a van but last year when I was there we had a jeep liberty that we were able to get 5 adults into. Three of us being 6'2" and about 260# and fit decently. Don't know if this is an option but it's nice having the 4 wheel drive capabilities anyway. Just throwing the idea out there.
Hi Connie,
Who did you rent from before? Thrifty is my least favorite company to deal with as an escort, the process always seems to take a lot more time and sometimes they didn't even have record of the rental! They DO allow their vehicles over to STJ so that would not be an issue.
ps- Thought I would share some news about Dependable. They close at 5pm on the nose, so if you come in after that, you can not get your car until the next day! (planes sometimes arrive late).
Thanks!!
We've rented from Budget before and the only problem I have is this one girl at the counter who has absolutely no people skills....luckily last time we only saw her when we took our car back.
We rented a jeep last time from Budget and it was fine, but it didn't have any back windows (plastic) and when it rained, the back seats got really wet. It was only the 2 of us and no big deal, but we'll have 4 in our party this time.
Sherri...we'll arive at 2 and bring the car back at 2, so no problem with Dependable. You better stop over this time!!!!
You BET! Will connect with you for sure!
So happy to know you are making the plans to come back!
We'll have 6 on our next trip to the islands. I checked out the rates on vans and cars. It's less expensive to get 2 smaller cars than a single van. Plus, with 2 cars the group could split if they so desired (one car go to a beach, the other go exploring. We'll do 2 cars.
