I just want to give a big cyber-hug to this forum.

I've recently introduced myself on a forum for St Barth and though I received some wonderful and welcoming replies, there were enough "others" to temper my desire to visit that island, for now. Change of plans!

Nothing like bashing the newcomer. I haven't been the newcomer to any forum in some time...so this is really an eye-opener.

It is funny how the replies you receive on a forum can formulate opinions in your mind about how you might enjoy the location you are planning to visit or are considering. If you aren't welcomed in a forum, you might feel that you won't be welcomed at your destination. This is exactly what is happening with the planning of this trip.

After this experience, I vow to always be welcoming and non-judgemental of newcomers to this forum. I would hate for someone to visit here and decide that our beloved VI is an unwelcoming place just because of the reception provided in this forum. I appreciate that other forum for sensitizing me to watch my own behavior and the behavior of my fellow forum-members here - although I know that Islander doesn't put up with that anyway:)

Phew...its good to be "home". 🙂

Just a little nostalgic for this forum tonight.

GInger, you are in NYC?

I am THERE all the time (tomorrow) - at least once a week for meetings - and some weekends for hanging out. Will be there next weekend for a pre-planned visit to MOMA.

I vote for a NYC gathering!

Some of the posters from the "old" AOL board have had reunions in both NYC and STT. Had a great time at the Cuban restaurant at South St. Seaport. We've been getting together for over 8 years now. Maybe we can get the "old" group together with the "new" group in NYC sometime.

Some of the posters who were always on the AOL STT/STJ board at times will post here. The AOL board is all but dead. They changed the format and most people went to this board or the other one. While on STT this summer both Islander and Anthony made it to our reunion at Indigo. We mentioned it at the time that we would like to get together in NYC again. If you would like to I'm sure they would like you to make the plans. Post on this board if you decide on anything and we can transfer the message to AOL board and Anthony's board and see what happens. They are predicting a mild winter in the Northeast so the date may not be a problem. Early spring is not a bad time. I live in CT and can take the train in very easily.

Cool! I'm up for a NYC gathering. Weeknights are better for me since I can schedule mtgs and stay for dinner - but I'll work to the preference of the majority.

Ginger, what kind of boat - sail or motor? Is the boat in AC or in Hamptons?
