I know it's great to make a margarita from scratch without using the crap mixes that are out there. However, for about a year now, I found a brand at Bev 'n Mo (not sure if they're nationwide yet) called Bone Daddy's Margarita Mix. Good stuff.

OK here is the "Knickers Off" (maybe I should rename it "Panties Off" ;)) recipe..........

1. Take a small glass (or big if you prefer) and fill with ice.
2. Fill 3/4 full with your favourite tequila.
3. Top off glass with equal parts of Cointreau, Grand Marnier and Roses Lime Juice.
4. Pour into shaker but no need to shake.
5. Use lime wedge to "wet" rim of your glass and salt.
6. Pour "Kickers Off" margarita into glass and add the used lime.
7. Enjoy 🙂

WARNING
One is great for "Knickers Off", two you are heading for the danger zone, three makes for a really really bad next day, and four....there won't be a next day 😉

Pia

Pia's mix is dead on
The only thing I would add is the smaller the ice cube (cracked or shave is best) the better
I like to pour into the shaker and give it about 30 seconds on the ice.
Your warning should be taken seriously

My tequilla of choice is:

It is 100% BLUE aguave and Blue is the key word
Full flavor and mixes well
Yea there are a lot better tequilla - but you keep those away from ice, salt, lime and assorted mixes

When I was in Cabo last year - the locals will tell you that a REAL margarita uses Damiana, not those french orange liquors http://www.damiana.net/ after a couple I had to say it makes a VERY drink

But I am not going to get into a chicken and egg discussion on that one

I didn't have one yet because the Tequila was dry on the shelf. Restock the shelf on the way home tonight. I had all the other ingredients but the Te-Kill-ya. I also ended up renting a jeep down in STT for the 7th-14th of June to try out the local watering holes. I can't wait.
Making a special Mango salsa which I designed to go with that "Knock the Kickers off Margarita" Thanks Pia I will try it to night.

Hidden Island Mango Salsa
3 ripe but firm Mangos
3 sereno peppers
3 jalapeno peppers
3 3/4" slices of fresh pineapple
2 large limes
3 cloves of garlic
3-4 Tbs of fresh cilantro
1 sweet onion
1 red bell pepper
1 orange bell pepper
1 green bell pepper

Chop the garlic, cilantro and hot peppers as fine as you can. Chop the rest of the ingredients to the size of a eraser on a pencil except the limes. Mix it all together and cut the limes in half and squeeze the juice on top, mix, chill , and eat with lime chips.
Once you start eating you can't stop. The combination of flavors makes you want more.
This is great on grilled fish also.

OK it's 6:30am at work with a spliting headache after a little too much of the Pia Margaritas. I guess I shouldn't have used a 32oz mug when making it and expecting to go to work the next morning.
THANKS PIA owe that was loud thanks Pia.

Told you - but did you like them?? - as I said, they are so different than the "normal" margarita that people are used to but after the first few sips they become addictive 🙂

So now you have learn the difference form a drink and cocktail
2 cocktails in a high ball glass is all that is required
after that everything gets a little hazy

I always chuckle when some one says yeah we drank 4 pitchers of Margarita's last night
No you drank a whole bunch of limeade that was flavored with tequilla
Using the "Classic" receipe as Pia posted - Can you imagine drinking 4 pitchers - let alone paying for them

So here is my favorite when I am in the blue water zone

It is called a Red Lion - found it in a old cocktail book back in the early 70s

Crushed Ice
2 parts Grand Mariner
1 part Gin (I perfer Beefeaters for this one)
The juice of 1/2 orange
The juice of 1/4 lemon
Shaken lightly and poured into a brandy sniffer
garnish with a orange slice

Here again recommend only two

VTX1300 lets keep the headache rolling :$) 😀

Tom That sounds pretty good, and Healthy too with fruit. LOL
I might try that on Sunday, hitting road tonight after work and driving 4 hours taking the kids to see their grandparents.
