Hi

A few years ago I was told that St Thomas wanted to increase the road size at the main cruise ship port from a small two lanes to maybe 3 or 4. Does anyone know if this was done or if it is in the planning? I'm just wondering as I know to get to some resorts you have to drive past the port and it can be very busy at times.

Thanks!

They're working on it now, but most work is done at night so traffic can still flow.

I don't know how long ago you were here but there have been significant changes in that area in the last 20 years but, as Ms411 says, more work is now being done to further alleviate the congestion. It's one of those perpetual works in progress! Traffic does flow better than in years past but it can still be a bit of a jam-up on heavy cruise ship days and I sometimes feel that I'm in the middle of Manhattan's hustle and bustle when I have to go through there, and can't wait to get back to the peace of "country"!

I was there a year and a half ago and I know the port area was hard to get through. I'll be there again in late January. I know some people who had recently asked if the roads had been expanded as they might consider resorts in the area and knew that it is a busy area. It sounds like some progress is being made. 🙂
