I am trying to decide if it is really feasible to get married on STJ... We will have about 50 people and I'd love some suggestions /experiences from anyone who has been married or attended a wedding on STJ. The few things I know for sure are: a date in November 2008 (thanks for your suggestions!), ceremony on the beach, I don't want the reception at the Westin. I'm open to any suggestions or recommendations anyone is willing to provide.

Thanks for your help!

I didn't get married there, but have read lots of reports from folks here who have. I can't think of a more beautiful place to get married. I always tell my husband that the next time I get married, I'm getting married on STJ. 😉

Anyway, I believe some folks had the reception at different restaurants.

My husband and I were married in STJ in October 2005. It was what we had always wanted...simple and beautiful.

We had a very low key wedding and, as a result, reception. We had our dinner at Margarita Phils. Our group was considerable smaller than 50, but they really catered to our group very well and went beyond the call to make our evening very nice without it being stuffy. There are a number of great restaurants on St. John. I personally would recommend using one that you already enjoy...you know the environment and food...so it will be exactly what you expect. For a group of 50, however, I would make sure that they have a private space for you or that you can rent out the entire restaurant for your party.

Have a great time!

One of the nicer weddings I attended on STJ was at Caneel Bay. The reception was just great - actually a breakfast "brunch" type thingy up on the patio at the Turtle Bay Estate House.

I also got married on St. John last November. We had 21 people including us and it was fantastic. I did a full trip report last December. If you do a search above and seach "HUB" in the Author search under last year I think I wrote it in early December. The title was something like Wedding/Trip Report LONG. Congratulations and good luck!

we hosted our reception at ZoZo's in st john! AMAZING IS ALL I CAN SAY! We closed down the restuarant for our guests, it was 34 total I think...(having a brain fart)!

JUST AMAZING.....I wish we could go back and do it all over again!

We got married in STJ last month! It was beyond perfect. There were only 20 of us, very low key, and beautiful. Our reception was at Rhumb Lines - can't say enough about this spot! Fantastic food (people are still talking about it) and the staff and owners were great. Loved it!!

We just got back from STJ after being their for our 25th anniversary vow renewal which we did on Trunk Bay with a dinner at Rhumb lines, both fabulous. Then the next night my son and his now wife got married on Trunk Bay and had their reception dinner at Ocean Grill in Mongoose Junction, again very nice. We had 21 people with us, it was fabulous, everyone had a grand time. We all rented villas and jeeps and wouldn't change a thing. good luck to you.

Is it worth it ( I think it might be) to have a wedding coordinator? We want something fairly casual, there will be only about 20 of us. I think I'd like to get married at the beach or at our rental villa and then maybe have someone come in and cook or maybe dine out......no decision there yet. Even though it's low key, I'd still like photos, flowers and a great meal.......so do I need a coordinator?
