We are staying in St. Thomas for the first time and we are traveling with two 16 year olds-one male and one female. Any suggestions to entertainment them. Male is a great swimmer and snorkeler and some scuba experience. Female has minimal swim experience. What about daysails from St. Thomas? Any suggestions or recommendations welcome!!!

I dond't know where you plan on staying, but when we had our 16 yr old with us last year, we stayed at Sapphire Village Condos. The problem was, there were no other teenagers in the entire complex, so he had to hang out with mom and dad. Not real exciting for him.

I suggest you go to a resort, might have a better chance of them meeting some other kids.

Thanks so much John in Orlando. We are staying at the Bolongo Bay Beach Resort. Also, part of the reason that we are bringing two teenagers with us-ours and a friend-we were afraid it would not be much fun for one! and two old adults!

Do you or anyone else know? Should I make some of these reservations-such as Snuba, Daysails, ets. before We get there? Any thoughts??

New Traveler,

I always like to everything ready before I go, so I would say do a little research on this site and pick your daysails, etc, and go ahead and make the reservations. From what I understand, most don't even require deposits.

Hmmm, did I say like to have everything ready? Oops. Guess I'd better get moving and find my day sail, because we leave Friday!

Have a great trip, New Traveler.

Bolongo is a great place for teenagers, actually. There is an awesome activities director (Sergio) who is pretty attentive and will provide & suggest enough to do for the "kids" while you relax on the beach with Iggie's fun drinks! Basketball, volleyball, watersports. Be sure to go to Vernita at the gift shop and she will set up any daysails or tours you might want to take. Just be VERY sure that you take the day sail with Captain Peter at least once. I guarantee you'll love every minute of the trip. He has been doing this for years and knows the best snorkeling sites. The buffet on the ship is great, too.

Iggie's is a very fun place to hang out at night...the food is pretty good for bar food. But, be sure that you dine at The Beach House, too. If you can afford it, take one night to order the tasting menu...at least for the adults. It's quite a treat if you enjoy "pretty food".

We love Bolongo. It's very relaxed & the staff is helpful. With the new crime wave on St Thomas, however, keep an eye on the teenagers at all times....sad to say.

I'm certain that the kids will keep busy. I'm glad to have been some help to you!
Keep in mind that this is not a fancy resort by any means, but you will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere - no need to "dress up" for any occasion.
Also, be aware that The Beach House's chef Ric Ade is not the only one who is making the food beautiful & great - though he does receive all of the accolades. The sous chef, Joshua, is a highly trained and talented professional. Meet him if you can - he's adorable! Girlfriend Heather is the restaurant manager, I think.

Try to get spend some time in Red Hook. Also, take the ferry from Red Hook to St John for a day or two to snorkle and/or shop. Only takes a short time to get there!

Again, have a blast. I'm jealous!
