I'm looking for some guidance. Planning on renting a Jeep for a few days on Tortola. We will be catching the last ferry over from St Thomas, on a Thursday. Questions are : 1) Would we be more likely to find a taxi in Road Town than West End? (especially if we planned on stopping for dinner/ drinks first. 2) I can't seem to find any information on taxi rates that is up to date. Does anyone know approximately how much a taxi from Road Town to Cane Garden Bay; how about west end to Cane Garden Bay.
Thanks, Mel

We like to rent our car from the Hertz at the Jolly Roger in West End. You'll have taxis waiting for the ferry in West End, but if you hang out in Sopers Hole for a while it might be hard to find one. You'll see a more taxis in Road Town in the evening.

Here's a link to BVI taxi rates: http://bvivacations.com/Taxi_Rates.html - the link states that most taxis are not honoring these rates.

Cheers, RickG

Thanks Rick. I saw that web site, but as you said it isn't very helpful. We were planning to pick up the jeep at hertz West End but they close at 5pm and I don't think we will make it to Tortola until around 6.
Thanks, Mel

Here are some Roadtown taxi #'s-

BVI Taxi association 284-494-3942
Quality taxi # 284-494-8297
Waterfront Taxi stand #284-494-6362

Calling these might help define times available and rates

Thanks to all the good folks posting on this board, I decided to call Jerry's located on the West end of Tortola. http://www.jerrysrental.com/ WOW! he was great. He will hold a jeep for us and he said he will stay open and wait for us. Problem solved. NO worries. 😀
VI here we come. Yea!!

I second JERRY's. We were in Tortola last week and had a rental from Jerry. AWESOME! We are not going anywhere else in the future. They are SO customer service oriented, you won't believe it. They bend over backwards to take care of you. Great people!

We come to St. T a couple times a year and continue to "plan" a trip to Tortola for a night or two but have yet to actually make it. We are attempting it once more this November and are looking for insider tips? Will probably take your advice Rick on Jolly Roger for car rental but, what about eateries and lodging? Thank you.
