*I had a few questions about taxi's. My boyfriend and I are going to be visiting St. Thomas July 3rd while on the Carnival Destiny. From the ship, how much would it cost to take a taxi to Magen's Bay? Is it walking distance? If not, are there taxi's available by Magen's Bay back to the dock?

Megan - Going to your namesake's beach 🙂 from the cruise dock should be around $7/pp. It is definitely not within walking distance -- maybe a 10-15 minute drive or so. There will be a slew of taxis waiting by the beach to take you back. They know the drill when the cruise ships are in!

I'm not sure about STT, but on many islands you can make arrangements with the taxi driver who takes you to a destination, to come back at a pre-arranged time to pick you up.

Enjoy!

Hello woogawooga,

Yes you can pre-arrange the return trip/pick up. In some cases its necessary, say if you headed to a beach that is off the beaten track, and in other cases it isn't. Magens Bay would fall into the not necessary category as there is a taxi stand area just by the entrance where taxi drivers hang out, play dominos, talk and wait for passengers that want to go back to the ship or elsewhere. 😉

PS for Megan: Havensight to Magens is $8 a person, one way. Magens Bay has an entrance fee (Adults $3 ($1/residents), Car $1, Kids .25 cents).

Thanks for the info, Islander. And thanks for all you do! It's great having this forum, especially the local information that you and several other members provide.

Just printed my boarding passes and by this time tomorrow, I should be heading down to Cruz Bay.

Can't seem to wipe that smile off my face today...8-))
