Hi all, I am returning to STJ in 3 weeks and want to take the ferry from Red Hook as opposed to CA. How long is the taxi ride from the airport to Red Hook. Also, is there any way to get a taxi at the airport quickly? Any other tips on getting luggage, getting a taxi and getting to Red Hook quickly so we can get to STJ as early as we can? Thank you in advance!

The taxi to Red Hook will take 30-45 mins depending on the time of day you arrive (and how many cruise ships are in 🙂 )

The taxi's hold approx 10 people and will wait to fill up before they leave the airport and they may stop along the way and do hotel drop off's. You can arrange a private taxi but the cost is $90.00.

Best thing to do is arrive and get "on island time" as fast as you can 🙂

And there will be plenty of them at the airport, waiting to take you...get off plane, walk over to luggage carousel (to the left...follow sign), get bags, walk outside, there they are...just tell the guy in charge you want the Red Hook Ferry and he'll pick a taxi van for you...no sweat!

I'd second Pia's strategy. Rather than figuring out how to get there quickly, figure out how to slow yourself down so that you can enjoy the getting there. When there's nowhere that I have to be by any particular time for a week or more, I'm certainly not going to be in a rush. Enjoy the ride across STT, chat with the other passengers. If you miss the ferry, another one will come and you get to sip a Carib, slow down and savor the beauty of it all.
