At that time of day, I would give it about 30 min.

I would just add that you should definitely plan to arrive at the airport 2 hours before your scheduled departure. The whole three-part check-in procedure took us almost 2 and 1/2 hours. First - you stand in line to check in for the airline, then you stand in line with your luggage and talk to the customs agent, then you drop your luggage at the screener and get in the security line. I'm guessing that 6:30 am would be better than our 3:00 departure, but I was surprised by the lines.

Is it safe to assume that in most cases, the longer lines are on weekends, when most travelers likely begin and end their trips?

And of course during busy season, as opposed to "off"season.

We are flying in (and out) on Monday, in mid-October. Our outbound flight from STT is scheduled for a 3:05PM departure. we should be able to get there in plenty of time since check out time for our villa on STJ is 10:00AM, but do you seasoned VI travelers still recommend being at the airport 2 hours ahead of time?

Absolutely be there 2 hrs prior to departure. I once thought I could be safe on a weekday, off-season arrival at a little over 1 hour prior to departure. Well, they wouldn't let me on that flight stating there was not enough time for the luggage to go through customs. So regardless of how much actual time it takes to check-in, go through security and clear customs - - they are very strict about the 2 hour rule. Don't take a chance!

I f you are running late hire a portter they will by pass the air line line and have a different way to get into customs so you don't wait in line.
It was the best twenty bucks my group of four spent on the trip.

Why does your luggage go through customs since it is from USVI back to the US
