Hello....so excited that hubby and I are headed to STJ next week, but I need to figure out our taxi gameplan.

Our flight arrives at 11:40 and unless our baggage is severely delayed, I'd like to grab a taxi and head straight for the 1pm Red Hook ferry.

First, does anyone think this is completely impossible? Second, I seem to remember there being quite a few smaller "non-van" taxis available that wouldn't need to make ten stops on the way out to Red Hook. Or, am I correct in remembering that some of the vans just pile up a bunch of red hook people and go straight there without stopping?

I need some advice. Hubby and I just need to get to Cruz Bay as soon as possible due to time constraints. We have to pick up our car rental, get some groceries, head over to Coral Bay to find our villa, prep some burgers for dinner, then go back over to Cruz Bay to meet our friends who will be arriving around 5pm. Once we pick up our friends, the clock goes out the window and we get to relax for the remainder of our vacation.

By they way, before you tell me that this is impossible, my hubby and I tend to travel like we're running the Amazing Race. So think overly-organized, assertive, and very resourceful. Now, can we make this happen?

you might have a better chance at catching the 1 o'clock CA ferry (not as far as red hook from airport) but you would probable do better to take your time and not drive all the way to coral bay and back before 5 just have a drink and wait for your friends to arrive. It takes 25 to 30 minutes to drive to coral bay from cruz bay.

Nah, we don't feel like hanging out in Cruz Bay for 3+ hours. We love the drive to Coral Bay and back, so that's definitely not a problem. Plus, we want to get our groceries and prep our burgers so that when we do get home, everything is all set. We're bringing some meat and cheese, so we need to unload that as soon as possible anyway.

We did the whole Westin thing last year, so I just can't remember how the airport taxis work.

If you get there where you can take the CA ferry, take that one. If you miss that one take the RH ferry.

There are more than enough vans and as many times as I've taken them I don't think they've ever made more than one stop, two tops.

They'll get you to where you want to go on time and maybe even you'll be dropped before someone else.

Yeah, I think the only time I remember making a ton of stops was when we stayed at the Marriott on STT. CA is usually the first stop, anyway....and with RH, I think we only stopped at the Wyndham or something (can't really remember). Basically, if our luggage happens to be out by 12:15, I'd like to try for the RH ferry. Otherwise, it's definitely CA.
