Good morning.
We are on island now.
Is the taxi rate table on this site up to date? We took a taxi last night and the fare from Red Hook to Frenchmans reef was charged at $10pp for 4 people. The table says it should be $8.
Wondering which is correct.
Thanks.
Yes, the taxi rates are up to date as the rates haven't changed in donkey's years. The taxi drivers are mandated to abide by the established rates and in fact are supposed to post a copy of them in their vehicles. I suggest you carry a rate sheet with you and then ask before getting into the cab what the rate will be. If it's over the posted rate then question it. I know many taxi drivers and they're a decent group overall who work very hard - but it's just my opinion that if they want the rates upped they need to go about it the right way and press for an increase, not arbitrarily take matters into their own hands.
Hello Bluwater,
Looks like you were charged correctly. The taxi rate table on the site is current; and it does say $10 for Red Hook to Frenchmans. Maybe you were looking at wrong column? If you go toward the end on the taxi rate page, the 3rd table includes Red Hook to various destinations...
Red Hook Frenchman’s Reef 10.00
Red Hook Hull Bay 10.00
Red Hook Limetree 8.00
