Our party of 4 will be on STT for 10 days this winter and are trying to decide about renting a car..we will be staying at Sapphire Beach and will spend most of our time there or in Red Hook. (We have been to STT before, and have done the tourist things in Charlotte Amalie and other beach areas.) How do you "catch" the local buses? What is the fare? What is the taxi rate from Sapphire to Red Hook? Any other info would be appreciated.

You just go to any VITRAN bus stop and when you see a safari coming, stick out your finger and point. Safaris are a buck, EXCEPT from Red Hook to town, then they are 2 bucks.

There are no safaris that run directly from Red Hook back to Sapphire, you would have to catch the safari to TUTU park mall and THEN go to Sapphire, that would be 2 bucks.

A regular pay taxi from Red Hook to Sapphire is gonna run you 12 bucks+, depending.
