tre -

I had lunch at Bella Blu in Frenchtown last Tuesday, and they had great tuna sashimi.

Beni Iguana's (with their renowned mussels with iguana sauce - their own creation!)
It's right across from Emancipation Garden on the ground level of the Grand Hotel complex

Buddha Bar (eclectic decor and excellently talented chefs)
In the Frydenhoj area; coming from the west, make the right at Fort Mylner and keep going - they are on your left

Sushi By Sato (Sato and his wife present the ultimate moveable feast; I have not heard of any sittings recently - perhaps someone can clue me in to this couple's runnings)
Locations vary, but the last time I ate their sushi, it was on an old converted boat in the east.

Sato had to leave island. Apparently someone fell in his restaurant and was threatening to sue and he had no insurance. So he up and left! Imagine that.

The Buddha Bar was impressive. Four of us went there, had saki and wine, enough to eat for all of us. Bill was $100 - food was good - service was great!

Forgot to mention Epernay in Frenchtown also has some sushi offerings and the Dragon Fly or something in the old Fujiyamas.

I believe Hatsumama in St. John does the sushi for the WEstin and Caneel. $3 ferry from St. Thomas and a half block walk makes it almost STT!

Interesting. I guess what I heard may have been an island urban legend?

Yes, Hatsumama does the sushi for Caneel, not Westin. Too bad for Westin! But why not go to the restaurant in Cruz Bay across from the National Park Visitor's booth! Great Asian food all around!
