I live in So. California and have surfed most my life. My travels have brought me epic surf throughout the South Pacific, and I am looking to surf the Carribean. I know that there's killer surf in Puerto Rico, Tortula, Barbados, etc., but how about St. Croix.
I am interested to find out how the surf is on the island. Specifically, how consistent (or inconsistent) it is in the non-hurricane months. From December to May, is there alteast some wind swell from the trade winds? Are most the surf spots reefs or beach break? What side of the island is most consistent? I would assume the North and East side.
How good and consistent is it during the hurricane season? How big do most the reefs and/or points hold swell.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

i had once replied long ago that there is no surfing on st croix. i then received a barrage of replies stating that i was completely wrong. still to this day i have not seen an actual surfer in st croix waters, but that might be because i live on the west side of the island (where the waters are calm). i suggest that you contact the people at http://www.cruzankites.com/ a couple friends of mine are avid kite boarders. they have recommended these guys with high regards. maybe they can point you in the right direction when it comes to info about surfing st croix.
