My wife, Son and myself want to learn how to Surf. Is there any place that has lessons? Where is the best place to go to learn how to surf?

Not much surfing in the VI but the primary question would be - which island?

Best place to surf is Hawai'i. Honestly, there is not much surf in the VI's. A small break near Hull Bay on STT but its about a mile swim to get to it and not a great place to learn. A few other spots over on STJ, but usually only in the winter months when there are northern swells. Hope this helps and good luck.

There is surfing in the BVIs on Tortola. I know Apple Bay is a spot and Sebastians Hotel is right on the bay. We watched the surfers during breakfast in January.

If you are really just learning for the first time here, there is a particularly good place to try on St. John. The Cinnamon Bay beach has a pretty extensive water sports shop and they give lessons. Depending on the weather conditions Cinnamon is either a beginner or intermediate wave.
