You might want to ask Captain Jay (PM him or something) He stayed there just a few weeks ago, and has stayed there before.

Your nearest grocery store is Pueblo, (you could hit one on the way to Mafolie if you would like- this one is in Sub-base). Pueblo is toward Havensight, take a left at Wendy's. Not my favorite store, but it works! You also have Gourmet Gallery in Havensight, but quite pricey! Beer starts at $4 and change a 6 pk and goes up from there according to what kind you get!
Enjoy!

Right up the street from Pueblo's is K-mart. Sounds crazy but we bought snacks and lots of booze very cheep! I know they had great prices on rum and I think they had beer too. Also, picked up a Styrofoam cooler to bring to the beach on St. John and we just donated it to some deserving couple before we left the hotel.

Bruce 1950: Are you going to have a rental car during your visit? Hope so because there's so much to do and see and the taxiing gets old, expensive and tiresome.

That said and if you are indeed going to have a rental vehicle, ask the Mafolie Hotel people for easy directions to Tutu Park Mall where you'll find not only the "big" K-Mart (the one which 'oceanaddict' mentioned is the "little K-Mart" in the Havensight general area not far from the Pueblo supermarket in Long Bay) but also Plaza Xtra supermarket which should provide you with all your snacking needs at reasonable prices. If you plan a trip to Magen's Bay or Sapphire Beach then you can make Tutu Mall a stop on your way back. Check out an island map and you'll discover that it's not that difficult. The Mafolie location offers nothing nearby to which you can walk to buy sundries.

I'm a restaurant owner and do a lot of local shopping where bottled beers are concerned, Per case, Heineken and Corona run abour $22, Bud and Coors Light about $15. Plaza Xtra generally has the best beer prices but sometimes KMart has specials and more often than not their specials are over a weekend and I WILL NOT GO TO KMART ON ANY WEEKEND DAY UNLESS I CAN GET THERE WHEN THEY FIRST OPEN THEIR DOORS which isn't too often. Forgive me for shouting but just wanted to gently express my viewpoint with a smidgeon of general angst...

Hope you enjoy your vacation here. Relax, enjoy and chill out! Cheers!
