I have never stayed at Sunset Ridge, but have driven up there ("up" being a key word!) to look at the location.

Sunset Ridge is locate high above Great Cruz Bay in the Bethany area. The road (don't remember the name) is a left turn off South Shore Rd as you head out of Cruz Bay - at "Jacob's Ladder", if you're familiar. Jacob's ladder is a steep section of South Shore located between Enighed Pond and the Westin. After turning onto this winding road, continue UP as far as you can go; the villas are located at the very end.

Having one of the highest locations in the Cruz Bay area, Sunset Ridge has a phenomenal view of Great Cruz Bay, the Pillsbury Sound, and St. Thomas. The villas and pool area looked nice from the outside, but I did not see the inside. The location is nice and private, although I seem to remember some construction during the summer of '04, so there's probabaly a new villa next to the complex now. Although I can't speak from personal experience, I would be inclined to stay there for the view alone!

These directions have probably given you a hint as to the answer to your question about walking - yes it's possible, but no, I wouldn't recommend it. The good news is that you are very close to Cruz Bay, so it would be a short (<1 mile) drive.

We have stayed at Sunset Ridge Villas
We loved it! A little remote, but still close to town.
One of the best views for sunsets on STJ

Here is our trip report back in 2004

I have hiked it, its possible. As it was said before, it really is only 1 mile, but a very steep mile. So yes, walk it, if you like your heart pumping.... but maybe more morning or evening, as I did.
