I considered it for a blink, until I checked airfares. YIKES!!!!! About $1500 per person round trip from JFK. 😮
You're offering a good deal, unfortunately, the airlines aren't.

I used Kayak to play the game just to see - and you were right those exact dates were real high!
However from DC or Newark (I live in DC area) you can get to San Juan departing on the 26th and returning on the 4th for about $800 and if you are willing to hang until Monday the 5th they drop $650.
Then you have two or three months to play the game on Cape Air, American Eagle, etc... to get from SJU to STT
Travel is becoming a game - when do I leave - how long to do I stay. Sometimes it is cheaper to take a 10 day vacation than 7 day. The world is crazy - make me stay longer in the blue water.... beat me, whip me, force me to smell salt air
