Hello,
I've never been to St. Thomas before and will be there soon. With a window of only 8 hours (cruise ship) where is the best place to watch the sunset. Its going to be for a special occasion (marriage proposal).
Thanks for any advice.
Freddy, If time permits, I'd suggest taking a taxi to Red Hook, then a Ferry to St. John, and you'll get an amazing sunset there. One place to eat would be Spyglass (or Looking Glass, I forget the name, but great food). Love the sunsets from Cruz Bay. Another option would be taking the gondola up to the mountain top, and though I haven't seen it myself, I've heard it's great.
Sunset is around 6:30 so knowing the itinerary of most cruise ships there's no way you can be on STJ for it. If your ship is docked at Crown Bay then Mountain Top would be an excellent spot. If you're at the Havensight (WICO) port facility I'd highly recommend Banana Tree Grille at Bluebeards Castle where you could enjoy a cocktail and appetizer - or as mentioned the Paradise Point Tramway. Just be sure to be wherever in time as sunset falls here very quickly!
We are scheduled to port at WICO and appreciate the information. If I had more time traversing to the other island would be neat but our window is from 12 to 8.
