Can anyone recommend the best location(s) on STJ for sunrise photos? Would like to get as close to horizon as possible. Rams Head looks promising but doing the trail in the dark is a little daunting.

What about right across the street from Shipwreck Landing or even Miss Lucy's? I got some beautiful shots from just passed the Cocoloba complex last year too.

I can think of several actually. There's a road that goes up the hill just before you get to Miss Lucy's. I don't remember the name of it but there's a nice stone wall where you turn and go up to several homes on the hillside. I think that would be a great place to get sunrise pictures from. Another thought is Concordia's pavillion. A short ways past Skinny's there's a road going off to the right. It winds around the back side of Fortsberg. There are a couple of places that you could get a good vantage point for sunrise shots. Going out further on the East End right at Haulover's low point drive up (left) into Drekeet (sp?) Subdivision and there are some high vantage points on the southside of Nancy Hill that would be perfect. The road up into that "subdivision" is wonderful but there aren't really any house up there on that side of the hill and it's a beautiful vista and worth the drive up. It's kind of the road to nowhere and kind of spooky but beautiful.

I thought of Ajax but isn't the view East obstructed for sunrise photos? My memory & video gave great view of Coral Bay looking SSE.

Thanks Diana

Thought of Haulover Bay as well but your alternates on the East are intriguing. Will probably have to do several day runs to find them and determine if driving in the dark is doable.

Thanks Coral

What a great idea. Sunrise pics followed by Bloody Mary's and Jazz brunch at Miss Lucy's without having to move!

I think the elevation will solve the SE vice E concern, but the time of year is a factor.

Hi TomB,
Why would the time of year be a factor?

The sun rises in a different part of the sky depending on what season it is.
