In Alan's account of his trip, he mentioned some robberies at Sugar Beach and Club St. Croix. Is there anything to be concerned about staying in that area, or are these just isolated instances? I understand taking the same precautions as you would at home like locking cars and doors, etc. Nothing could ruin a long planned trip quicker than being robbed.

Shar-

We have a condo at Colony Cove, next door to those two. We have never had a problem but we do not recommend walking on the beach alone at night. Other than that, the only burglaries we have heard about were where people left their doors open or were otherwise unwise about safety. We have rented it out as well, and have not had any of our guests have any problems.

I'd be happy to answer any other questions! We love it down there and look forward to being fulltimers in the next few years-

We have stayed at Club St. Croix. We have walked to C'Sted, to the Pueblo, on the beach, and just about anywhere. We have never had a problem in this area. Some of the incidents we have heard of involve kids at the projects nearby, but no violence and certainly no robberies. It is a safe area.

We had no problems only because we were causes. But from the locals I have talked to vandalism and theft are common even some armed robberies. I wouldn’t walk nowhere especially at night.
