We will be in STX for a week starting 7-19. Have made numerous trips in the past. This time we are looking to drive the 4WD Ridge Rd. What kind of road is it? How wide is it? Does it drop off the sides? Does Judi's rent 4WD? Have used her in the past. She is very good!
Also, what happened to Zizzlers? Kept checking last year for the opening and now it appears to be gone.
Thanks for all the help....can't wait to get there....a few more days! TTL

Zizzler's closed almost as soon as it opened it seemed. The space is now called Parrot's Cove.

Thanks for the info. I looked at TanTan tours and that would be an option however, we would like to drive ourselves. Is the road 73? I am trying to get a feel for what the road is actually like. I know it will not be like Mahogany Rd (which is beautiful). Is the road like the one that goes up to LEAP? Is it very narrow? i know TanTan will go through any area you want...but we would like to drive.
Thanks again.
Also, do you know if Deann's is still there? It was one or two street up from the boardwalk in Christiansted.
Thanks again and good job on the website!

Judi of Croix has been sold. Don't know what the new owners are like or if their service is as good. Deanns is still there and as good as always.

Not sure about Deann's...anyone else know?

And, you might want to contact Tan Tan and tell them that you want to follow them on a tour in a rental...that might work...

Are you sure about Judi's? Chris and Chris were there last time I called.

I just heard about it Sunday LindaJ. Have not checked it out for myself. Hopefully it is not true.

beachbums,
I drove the road (dirt) from the west end to the Carambola in a Wrangler. Never needed the 4WD but the extra ground clearance was nice. There are some great views along the ridge If the air is clear you'll be able to see PR and STT as well as about 80% of STX. Unless you are experienced off-road drivers, I would not recommend trying to follow Tan-Tan. Some of the places they drive are not for novices.

Just spoke to Christy @ Judi's. The business was not sold. She and her husband still own it (4+ years). Good to know..what a relief!
Thank you everyone for your input....just can't wait to get there!
