Hi all. I am a student in Chicago, Illinois. My wife and I married and had our honeymoon in St. Croix two years ago and fell in love with the place! We hope to move there one day.
The only thing holding us back now is my schooling. At the age of 40, I have returned to school for my degree in E-Commerce, web development degree.
I am writing this post to offer to build two free websites for new or established St. Croix businesses. I need the experience and published websites for my portfolio. I am offering 1-10 page websites, created from scratch in Dreamweaver and for now, they must be static (a non-ordering website). I am proficient with Dreamweaver, Flash and Fireworks.
I will create the website to your specifications, photos, contact information, address and phone, etc. Although I will design, develop and produce the site free of charge, you will be responsible for paying for it to be posted on a web server ($50-$100 a year) and pay for your domain name ($20 or so). You must also agree to have a 'Designed by...' notification on your site.
Again, I am doing this because I am a student who needs the experience and portfolio reasons, but also to help a new business on the island my wife and I fell in love with! Other than the few requirement above, there are no catches. You get a free website, I get experience and build my portfolio. I am also willing to redesign a site that you already have that you want updated, changed or altered.
Please drop me an email if you are interested or have any questions. As I am still in the midst of my spring semester, I cannot take on too much, so first come, first serve! So even if you do not need a site, help me find a local business that does!

Thanks all!

I would suggest posting this on the Relocation Message Board on this site (see the link in the upper right, just above this forum). It is more likely to be seen by people living on the island there.

While some locals visit this site, it is largely about vacationing.
