We will be coming from a week on St John and would like to end our vacation with a stay closer to the beach. Any thoughts on which of the above stated places would be easiest with the 2 year old? Thanks!

We were thinking of Secret Harbor to be close to a good restaurant but the beach looks quite small and I hear the rooms are dated for the quite expensive price. Not so interested in Sapphire as we don't want to have to cook every night which we will be doing on St John. Thanks for the info!

Secret Harbour hands down for what you're looking for. The beach isn't "small" by any stretch, is really beautiful with good snorkeling and the onsite restaurant is very good. I wouldn't recommend the Wyndham as that beach IS small and I imagine the many steps on property would be difficult with a two year old in tow. Many of the SH units have recently undergone updating renovations but I wouldn't have called them "dated". See if you can get a beachside unit as otherwise you'll have a few steps to maneuver.

STT Resident is spot on with the SH recommendation. Bolongo Bay Resort might be another place to consider, though their beach isn't as nice. Or Best Western Emerald Beach.

Thanks everyone! Secret Harbor seems like the best bet. Just to verify, Sapphire still does not have any restaurants on site?

The Banana Cabana for sandwiches and drinks is open on the beach during the day but the main beach restaurant is closed. There is a restaurant in Sapphire Village at the top of the hill. It was the Grapevine Grill but recently changed hands and I can't remember its new name. So far the reviews have been disappointing.

Several years ago we stayed 2 weeks at Secret Harbor with 3 children & 1 teen ager. It was perfect. Beach is like a cove and gentle water.Nice sandy beach. Do try and get a unit on the beach. We walked out our door and there was the sand. I understand the main restaurant is closed but if your into cooking light meals the condos have complete kitchens. I envy you. Enjoy your stay and be sure to post a trip report when you get back.

carole, the restaurant at Secret Harbour isn't closed - maybe you''re confusing with Sapphire? The restaurant at SH will be changing ownership in the next couple of months but there is no expectation of its closing during the transition period.
