Good Evening and Hello! I was looking more and more and now I am very interested in the west side beaches of stt. Mostly because I would just like to see some with my own eyes and take some great pictures and know with my own memories I have been there. A couple things have puzzled me thought about access from what I have read. The places I am looking at are strictly west end and starting at the south pretty much everything from Brewers Bay all the way west and up and around to Santa Maria bay. Starting with Brewers, I know that is easy access and I can get there. Also, I made a post about the "mirrored beach/mermaids chair" and received answers on that that it is possible, just a LOT of walking/hiking. So a few of the others, particularly the most common one that came up on google and yahoo search results I found issues with. I will try to stick with Santa Maria beach. Every single result I am showing says you can only see it by boat. Well, I had both google earth and bing maps up and there is this dirt path that seems to go down to Santa Maria. Maybe about a 100 yards short, but it looks like it can get you there. I'm guessing it would be a rough and long walk, but is it possible??? Or definitely boat only??? Other questions include: It seems like a few other beaches on the west end are listed as boat access only, but then google earth and bing maps shows some little dirt path like you can walk to them??? Does anyone on here happen to be an expert on the west side beaches? Again, from about Brewers Bay (which I know I can access) all the way around to Santa Maria? I have an entire day spared to check out the west side by car and foot. I would LOVE to see at least some of these places, but if I can't get to them by car or foot are there any other suggestions?? Also, I think I read you can drive to Stump Bay, is there any sand there at all, or is that all rocks??? THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR ANY WEST END INFO!

Good night and hello. With a sharp machettee, two strong donkeys, a safari suit and industrial strength deet, no path is too narrow, no climb is too steep and no beach is too far. All joking aside....I admire your Conrad-like sense of adventure. Maybe you should inquire about securing a private guide.

You can access the Botany Bay Beaches on the West end by parking in one of their 'public access' spots inside the entrance gate and walking down and walking back up - take water!
You can drive to Fortuna Bay - it is a rocky windy beach.
You can drive to Bordeaux Bay - the ruins are beautiful the beach is mostly rock.
You can drive most of the way to Stumpy Bay -- it is beautiful and sandy.
The path to Santa Maria is on private property - it was drivable when they filmed the Columbus '1492' movie there years ago - it is posted no trespassing. it is a wonderful double crescent beach, very sandy.
Njelteberg Bay is drivable and really beautiful. Dorothea beach is easily driven to, sandy and rocky shoreline. Caret Bay is able to be accessed with a 5 minute hike from the end of a rough road.On the South side after Brewers, Persaverance Bay can be hiked to and is very sandy and remote.
You will spend a fair amount of time getting to most of them and can't see them all in a day - if Santa Maria is your choice it may be better to ask forgiveness than permission.

lol, thank you both for the tips and setting my mind in the right direction! 😀 Actually, I just really wanted to see one or two of them as I had a free day and the west end is seldom talked about but looked very pretty.

HOLY COW! I'm a detail freak so don't mind me, lol. I "got a hold of" something better than google earth, close to the military stuff, hee hee hee. There are like thousands of "trails" on the north and west end! What's up with that??? I mean I am guessing they are not drivable with any non-military vehicle, but wow, I never knew all of these paths existed! Also, and don't worry, zero and blu you both have given me the most detailed advise and maybe my map is outdated, but when you talk about the private property area is that actually "hendrick beach", or the little dirt path I am seeing that goes directly to Santa Maria??? Because when I'm looking at it there are two and the one directly to Santa Maria, while it may need a machete, lol, I do not see any houses and I am zoomed in very close. I don't know, just looking into cool looking spots and babbling, no reason to respond really. Actually, I'm starting to think the locals want to keep some of these FABULOUS looking places to themselves! hee hee hee 😛 I will just explore a little and not go anywhere with a sign that tells me "no" and check out and walk to everything I can....... safely of course 🙂

I've been down to Santa Maria and it was worth every bit of the hassle and hike. A few years ago I was staying with a family down the road and he told me I had to go check it out so we did. It is posted private but there used to be a hole cut through the fence to the right of the gate. From there follow the dirt path all the way down (bring water) as its a hike back up. You'll pass an abandon house then there it is Santa Maria. My wife and I had the whole beach to ourselves its a beautiful beach with 50'palms separating the beach from the jungle. Also be careful of fire ants in the wooded area my wife was attacked by them. Call me a trespasser but nothing ventured nothing gained and treasure that day. Good luck let us know if you get there you already have your map. Justin

Swashbucklin Tours does backcountry kayak trips into Perseverance Bay. With a nice flat hike to check out the awesome ruins there.
Swashbucklin Tours also does boat charters that depart from Hull Bay. By boat you can visit all north side beaches all the way to the Mermaids Chair.
If you have any question please contact us, we spend Alot of time in the areas you mentioned. Good luck.
