How does one get from St. Thomas to St. Croix? Is there a reasonable method of transportation that everyone uses and what does it cost?
Thanks in advance,
-Phil
There are 2 ways to get to between the islands, the ferry and by plane. The ferry takes 90 minutes, one way, travels RT only 3-4 days a week and costs about $90 RT. By plane it takes only 25 minutes and costs about $150 RT.
I have never used the ferry service but the seaplane is a blast. It's almost worth the money to just do it one time and experience taking off and landing the water. Jimmy Buffet says in his song "Jamaica Mistaica", "as we landed in the water, just about my favorite thrill".. Also you can't beat the convenience of the seaplane. Lots of departures to match up with any schedule. Just don't wait to long to book your flights. They seem to fill up pretty quickly
Phil, I'm not sure the ferry is "reasonable" unless you have a stomach of iron.....the people I've talked to said it was a VERY rough ride. I do love the seaplane since it takes off and lands right in the heart of both Charlotte Amalie and C'sted...just a fun way to travel!

Thanks to all of you who replied. My son is moving to STX on Monday, and we were coming to visit in November. We were originally going to stay in STT, but that's changed since I posted my original message. If we come down, it'll be to STX, so I won't need to worry about the island hopping.
Best regards,
-Phil
