I'm planning a return trip to the islands this May but will be staying on STT this year instead of STJ, thinking a friend for working at marriott for this!!! A group of us will be traveling and I want to take the newbies to JVD for a day. It looks like I can take a ferry for $50 from Red Hook over to JVD (stops at STJ first), anyone have suggestions or any input on this? I know we have to be back on the ferry by 3pm to get back through customs. Also, if we take this ferry and decide to stay on STJ for a few hours on the return trip, can we? I know we would have to take a later ferry back and pay that fee as well.

Thanks for any advice! I can't wait to introduce the islands to this group.

I would highly suggest if you want to do this you take the STT ferry to JVD buying a one way. If you buy a round trip once you leave JVD you clear customs and instantly have to reboard for STT leaving no opportunity to see STJ. Take the 3pm ferry out of JVD to STJ, enjoy STJ for as long as you want then get a one way back to STT after dinner or later. It will cost you a bit more this way but at least you can see STJ.
